SELF TAPES

Self tape tips for actors. A step by step guide to self tape submissions. Self tape auditions can be filmed on any camera including an iphone.

Below is our step by step guide on how we like our SELF TAPE submissions.

WHAT TO SAY

  • Please start by stating your name and location.

  • Then begin the scene in your own time.

WHAT TO SHOOT

  • A shot from mid chest to just above your head is best. Any more and we can’t see your face.

  • Please film against a plain background. Remember it should be well lit or natural light so we can see you.

WHAT CAMERA TO USE

  • We are happy for you to film using a DSLR, video camera or a smart phone.

  • Someone else should be filming you rather than you attempting to audition and hold the camera.

WHAT TO CHECK

  • Please label the file with your name rather than IM666.MOV if we see a file labelled randomly we don’t know who has self taped.

  • Please only send us .MOV and .MP4 files. Any other file we can’t open.

  • Watch the tape back and check the audio, it’s important we can hear you.

HOW TO SEND

  • Can your file be sent via WeTransferVimeo or GOOGLE DRIVE and be downloadable.

  • Please look at the file and check it’s size. A file over 100MB will take a long time to send and easily means you’ve shot it at a very high quality. If your file is over 100MB please use Clip Champ to compress it. You won’t lose much of the quality but the file will be much smaller and easier to send.

  • Instructions on where to send your self tapes will be included in an email from us. Please ONLY send the self tape to that instructed email address.
